Children to Love International (“CTL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Bakersfield, California (P.O. Box 9575, Bakersfield, CA 93389), is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors, supporters, website visitors, and all constituents. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you interact with our website (childrentolove.org), make donations, sponsor a child, sign up for communications, register for events, or otherwise engage with us.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We process data in accordance with applicable laws, including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies to individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom.

  • Other: Communication preferences, sponsorship details, event registrations, prayer requests, feedback, or volunteer/employment application data (e.g., background checks, references).

We automatically collect certain data via cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies (e.g., IP address, browser/device info, pages visited) for site improvement and analytics.

 

Lawful Bases and How We Use Your Information

We process personal information only on lawful bases, including:

  • Consent: For marketing communications, newsletters, or certain uses 

  • Legitimate Interests: To steward donor relationships, process donations, send mission updates to existing supporters, prevent fraud, conduct analytics, and improve services 

  • Contract: To fulfill donation processing, sponsorships, or event registrations.

  • Legal Obligations: For tax receipts, statutory reporting, or compliance.

Uses include processing donations/receipts, sending impact reports and appeals (with opt-out), personalizing communications, website analytics, program administration, and internal research. We practice data minimization—collecting only what is necessary—and storage limitation.

We share information only as needed:

  • With trusted service providers (e.g., payment processors, email platforms like MailChimp, cloud services) under contracts requiring equivalent protections.

  • With overseas ministry partners for program operations (e.g., sponsorship correspondence) under strict confidentiality and safeguards.

We do not sell data. For international transfers (e.g., to the U.S. or partner countries), we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (if applicable), or Transfer Impact Assessments.

On our public website, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (to align with COPPA) or process children’s data without appropriate parental/guardian consent where required (GDPR Art. 8 for minors).
