Kelly Bergen

Kelly grew up on a family farm in Shafter, CA and became a believer when he was 11 years old. He attended Fresno Pacific University where he received his Bachelor’s in Music with a Minor in Psychology. He later received a Master’s in Education Technology, but says that his highest level of education is from life experiences! He retired from the Kern County Superintendent of Schools where he spent the last 18 years of his career working as an Education Technology Specialist. Kelly is married to Liah (our Child Sponsorship Coordinator) and loves spending time with their son, KaeLum. Kelly also has two adult children, Amy and Paul, who are out of the nest.

Kelly says that working for CTL is simply answering a call. He loves the premise of the organization, to come alongside others already working to be God’s change agents in their own cultures. He finds that learning about how our partners think is a fascinating and rewarding work. Being able to involve his family in the work of CTL has been one of the many highlights of his time with the organization. He has been on around 50 trips to our partner countries (wow!), and he and Liah have been on seven trips together. His role at CTL usually involves technical support of some kind, but also team leading and ministry partner services.

Favorite scripture: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

We asked Kelly, "If you were a pasta shape, what shape would you be and why?"

Kelly: “Something twisted and covered in garlic because I like to have people wonder about me when they see me but still remember that feeling after I’m gone.”
