Liah grew up in a small town in the Philippines where she helped her father farm. She was raised a Catholic but in Kindergarten received a scholarship to study at an Evangelical Christian school. When she was old enough, Liah began attending a Christian church on her own, made the commitment to follow Jesus and was baptized in 2009. A year later, Liah met her husband Kelly and after marrying they moved to the United States. Liah and Kelly have a five-year old son named KaeLum who can read and write!
Liah is passionate about the work that she does for child sponsorship at CTL because she loves connecting sponsors to the children – connecting people from two different worlds – especially when they have the opportunity to communicate with each other. Liah was also a sponsored child when she was young, so she knows firsthand how life-changing it is. At that time, she was not allowed to know who was sponsoring her, so she is thankful that we are now able to connect the children with their sponsors and encourage that relationship.
Favorite scripture: “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'” Jeremiah 29:11
We asked Liah, "If you were a pasta shape, what shape would you be and why?"
Liah: “I would be spaghetti. I realized that I can do more than one thing and spaghetti is served in so many different dishes!”
